A few figures to give an idea of Polo’s volume of business: 2,680,000 km travelled, 1,415,000 packages handled and more than 120,000 deliveries made in 2007.
In fact, the company has an organised and well developed distribution network that uses 25 vehicles all fitted with satellite tracking systems and insulated to guarantee the continuity of the cold chain up to the delivery of the products to the customer.
Constant attention to avant-garde technologies has led Polo to adopt a computerised system for the collection and transmission of orders which updates information in real time.
In addition, a radio frequency based procedure, for product receipt and handling, controls the automated movement of the goods in each section of the factory.
Despite the high level of automation, the company also focuses on training of specialised staff; at present there are 100 collaborators, to execute all orders, including online ones within 12 hours and to offer an efficient and personalised customer service managed by a strong sales network. However, Polo does not rest on its laurels and has decided to invest in a new warehouse entirely dedicated to automated storage and picking, supported by technologically advanced logistics to offer programmed and monitored deliveries.
An area with a volume of 75 thousand cubic metres, 40 thousand of which equipped with cells for frozen and deep frozen products and 35 thousand equipped to store preserved products.
